Things I Love

This world is full of thing I like,
Like Lady Gaga or Mike and Ikes.
I love it when people say something funny,
And I adore the little, fluffy and white bunnies.

It makes me happy when I get good grades,
Or on holidays when I can go to parades,
I think Greyson Chance is very good looking,
And I love the smell of something cooking.

The songs on my iPod are very nice,
And I get excited when something is half price.
Another thing I like is the color pink.
I think it’s cute when my cat plays in the sink.

My favorite food is for sure French fries,
The prettiest things in photographs are usually the skies.
Unicorns are pretty with the way that they sparkle,
A really fun game I like is called Farkel.

I also like to play outside,
And I like it when the ocean’s at low tide.
My favorite thing is probably eating,
I think it’s fun to play sports while competing

So as you can see there are some things that I love,
And the list has a lot, well, sort of.
These are the things I like and that is true,
So just remember that I love you too. (maybe,)

A Town Full of Bravery

Author’s Note: This is a theme piece about a story we read in class called ”The Lottery”. It’s about a town full of brave people who each year go through an inhumane version of a lottery.

Themes in stories are basically titles that everything follows; it’s like the main concept. “The Lottery” by Shirley Jackson is about a town that hosts a lottery every year, where the prize is always the same. Death. Yes, death. One man from each family walks up to the stage, grabs a slip, and hopes for the best. If your dad or brother has the “winning” ticket, one member of your family will get stoned to death. Only in this one event, it does not matter your age, gender, or health, if your family gets picked, and then you have the ticket that means a painful death, the whole town will follow through with it. With all this happening, it makes the theme bravery, because it you didn’t have any, there’s no way you could walk to town square with you head held high.
The first thing that makes the theme of this story bravery is that if you were some kind of coward, it wouldn’t even be possible that you would still be living in that town. If someone was so afraid of choosing that destructive little ticket, they would have moved far away after their first lottery. To be able to walk into town square and stand next to your family and all of your close friends and neighbors, knowing that today, one of them will die you would have to have a lot of courage. There’s no way a cowardly person could just stand there and risk their life, and their family’s.
Another thing that makes the theme the way it is, is the fact that Tessie spoke up. Back then, women had very little rights, which is why the man of the family chose the ticket. Once Tessie’s family got chosen, she wasn’t just going to stand there and take it. Tessie decided to be brave and speak up, claiming that her husband was not given the same amount of time as everyone else that chose their tickets. Very few woman back then would have the guts to do something even half the courageous.
In the end, I think it pretty clear, that there was a lot of bravery though out this story. Whether it was the way that every townsperson risked their life, of how a woman finally stood up for herself and her family. Without bravery, there wouldn’t even be “A Lottery” because nobody would have the willingness or courage to join. To be in The Lottery, it takes a lot of bravery and risk taking, but that didn’t stop any of the characters in the story.

Free as Your Hair

Authors Note: The song “Hair” is in my opinion, one of Lady Gaga’s best songs. It has emotion, meaning, and depth, plus, it’s pretty darn catchy. The theme of this song is individuality.

“I’ve had enough, this is my prayer, that I’ll die livin’ just as free as my hair” are just some of the many, inspirational lyrics in the song “Hair” by Lady Gaga. When talking about being as free as her hair, you know that all Lady Gaga wants, is to basically let go of whatever insecurities were holding her back. This song is all about being yourself and not letting anyone change you; and the lyrics and music are the things that sculpt this song to make it as meaningful as it is, and also making the theme individuality.
The first thing that defines the theme of this song as individuality is the line “I screamed ‘Mom and Dad why can’t I be who I want to be?’” This verse is very powerful; it shows that right now, nobody is excepting her, and even though her parents probably think they’re helping her be “normal”, letting Lady Gaga express herself could have massively helped her social life. When Lady Gaga was a child, she was constantly bullied, and it could have been because she expressed herself in different ways, than in fashion or trends, so at this point, all she wanted to do, was to be free, be herself, and be her hair.
Another verse that really shows the theme, is when Gaga says “I just wanna be free, I just wanna be me, and I want lots of friends that invite me to their parties.” Everyone wants to be themselves, and a lot of people are, and even though Lady Gaga knows that now, this was her past, so she decided to sing about it. All she ever wanted was to fit in, but that wasn’t the problem. The problem was that she wanted to fit in and be herself at the same time, but Gaga was insecure then and she didn’t believe it was possible.
The last thing that defines the theme of this song as individuality is the fact that this song starts out slow, with more of a depressing, yet “to frightened to be herself” kind of vibe, but then starts to pick up tempo as Lady Gaga sings more confidently, as the song gets more and more intense. This shows how desperate she is for people to let her be herself and also how she won’t let people put her down. She shows that even though she used to try hard for people to like her, now she is just herself and lets people like her for her.
Besides just being by the same artist, another song that I think shares the theme of individuality is “Marry the Night”. In this song, Lady Gaga passionately sings about letting go and achieving all the things she never did before. All she cares about is doing what she loves, and being herself while accomplishing those things. Just like in the song “Hair” Gaga just wants to be herself, let go, and be free.
Overall, I’d say that it’s pretty easy to see why the theme is individuality, and why it is that way. “Hair” is a powerful song with an inspiring message, that message is to just be yourself and you’ll find a way to fit in, because being someone that you’re not, will never end in your favor. What starts out as a song with her singing as a dreamer, ends as a song where Lady Gaga has accomplished her goal, or as she says it, her “prayer” or being as free as her hair; she’s now herself.

The Most Evilest Daisy of All Time

My name is Raul. Raul the Daisy, that is me. A few months a ago I was just a little seed, in just a little packet, hanging on  a little display thing in Menards. Then the most kindest lady  ever came and bought me, along with my siblings. So this very super very nice lady that bought me and my family, took as all home to her garden. Then, very carefully she placed us all into the dirt and then pat pat patted us down. Now, I have to admit, it was pretty darn scary down there, all cold and wet and junk. But, whatever, eventually I grew, and though I started out all sweet and innocent like, I soon became the most evilest daisy of all time. I think. I didn’t really get too meet many other daisies, with me being stuck in the ground and all,  but you know, I can hope. So anyways, once everyone grew out of the dirt, we all  got water, and boy was that good. Except, I feel like I didn't get enough, so one day I stuck one of my roots into my brother Paul's dirt and stole some of his, not like he would notice or anything. And that's how it all started. Day by day, little by little, I would steal even more and more water. Hey, I cant help it, I was just a thirsty flower, but it was now a habit and I couldn't stop. Long story short, I killed them. Every last one. Yeah yeah, don't judge me. I killed all my family blah blah blah, but on the bright side, I now get a whole watering can to myself.

Greyson Chance is the best looking guy I have ever scene. He also has the world's most beautiful voice! But, the best part is, is that he likes Lady Gaga too! Oh, and guess what? He's fourteen. I am going to marry this boy.
